City Beach, 8 Goonang Road – Offers by May 5

Natalie HordovWestern Suburbs Weekly

HOMEOWNERS are taking advantage of large blocks with older homes in City Beach to build their dream homes in a fantastic beachside location.

The owners of this modern masterpiece bought a 1960s home on a 1050sq m corner block in 2009 and decided to demolish and rebuild soon after.

They wanted a home that reflected their love of the coastal lifestyle with plenty of space for their teenagers and room to entertain.

Built in 2012 by City Beach Builders, there are mid-century aspects to the home’s design and colouring.

The owners describe it as a modern, minimalistic home with a bright, individual outlook.

As you enter the house, an oversized, glass pivot door framed with striking stonework sets the tone for the impressive, bespoke interior.

Polished concrete floors, clean lines, neutral colours add to the feeling of space and luxury.

The open-plan kitchen/living/dining area is the hub of the home.

The kitchen includes a 4m cantilevered stone benchtop and Smeg appliances.

A large sliding door opens to the alfresco area, with timber-lined ceiling, built-in barbecue and fridge, where the owners enjoy family meals and entertaining year round.

A pool provides more fun for a family.

The owners said the house is the hub for family gatherings due its size and layout.

“Christmases and birthdays are always spent here as it is a home suitable for a young or more mature family to mix,” they said.

Adult and children’s wings provide great separation, especially as the children get older, and the children’s living room can be closed off from the main area.

The beach is within walking distance and the owners visit their local cafe at the City Beach shops often.

The location is central to larger shopping areas to the north and south and is close to Kapinara and City Beach primary schools.

The home is also in the catchment area for Churchlands Senior High School.
