Police said the thieves found the ignition keys to a VW Golf owned by a Dalkeith resident when they searched another car at a Yilgarn Street home overnight on September 14.
The theft was linked to a handbag snatched from a woman in Karrinyup the following day.
Police saw the Golf on Wanneroo Road, Tuart Hill, about 1.10am on September 18.
A chase through several northern suburbs ended when the vehicle hit a kerb at the Reid Highway-Mitchell Freeway intersection in Carine.
