At last month’s meeting, councillors agreed they would not provide the Westcoast Community Centre with $2910 for its 20th anniversary celebration for volunteers that would have included DVDs about the centre’s history for each guest.
However, councillors did approve an application from Beehive Montessori School so students could work with the Department of Agriculture monitoring the potential threat of invasive insect disease by using beehives at the school.
Staff said the project would provide a valuable service to the town, a local beekeeper and the apiarist industry.
