Apartment buildings with fitness facilities on the rise, Hillarys and Scarborough developments in great shape

Keren BellosJoondalup Times

WEST Australians in recent years have become much more health conscious, so it’s not surprising new apartment buildings with shared fitness facilities are on the rise.

A fully-equipped gym is often an elevator ride away, while commercial spaces in mixed-use developments might house a pilates or yoga studio, health food store, beautician or medical specialist.

If wellness facilities aren’t under the roof, choosing a home in a vibrant, established area could mean they are on the doorstep.

Here are some newly-completed and off-the-plan residential apartments in Perth’s northern coastal suburbs fit for the health-conscious buyer.

Zahra on Angove Hillarys

Luxury apartment living is a healthy proposition at Zahra on Angove, which features a lap pool and commercial spaces home to a pilates studio and physiotherapy practice.

There is also a cafe in the newly-completed development designed by Harden Jones Architects at Harbor Rise Estate, opposite a reserve in Hillarys.

“Buyers love the convenience of having these facilities available so close to home and enjoy using them all,” Realmark North Coastal licensee Jeannette Bates said.

“It has also helped to create a more social atmosphere within the complex, which adds tremendously to the culture of apartment living as it encourages a stronger sense of community which people enjoy and are looking for.”

Zahra on Angove is in a great lifestyle location, with Hillarys Boat Harbour and beaches across the road.

Just three of the 18 apartments remain for sale.

On the ground or first floor, each three-bedroom, two-bathroom home features 95sq m of internal living with high-quality finishes, 26-28sq m north-facing balcony and two car bays.

Starting from $789,000, the homes at 46 Angove Street will appeal to the downsizer who won’t compromise on space or style.

Jade Apartments Hillarys

Also in Hillarys, Jade Apartments makes it easy for buyers to adopt a healthy lifestyle, featuring a communal terrace that residents with a green thumb will especially appreciate.

“There is a top-floor terrace garden where residents can have a vegetable patch and grow their own herbs,” Mrs Bates said.

“Jade also has a large open community space and barbecue facilities which, along with the rooftop garden, offers an alternative wellbeing concept that is highly attractive to buyers.

“Residents can satisfy all their other wellness needs at the Whitfords shopping complex, which is almost next door and includes a pool and gymnasium.”

There are tennis courts across the road and an opportunity for outdoor exercise in a nearby park.

Designed by Aztec Architects and due to be completed mid-2018, Jade Apartments at 31 Green Street features 10 residential apartments, each with a generous balcony affording a park view, and five commercial properties.

A one-bedroom, one-bathroom home with one parking bay starts from $385,000, two-bedroom, two-bathroom options with two bays from $560,000 and three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments with two bays from $640,000.

They are ideal for the first-home buyer, downsizer or investor.

VetroBlu Scarborough

There’s no need to pay for a gym membership at VetroBlu, neighbouring the beach further down the coast at Scarborough.

Designed by Hartree + Associates Architects, the newly-completed apartment complex at 48-50 Filburn Street features a gym with infrared sauna and panoramic ocean view.

It also has a rooftop terrace and outdoor spa capitalising on the scenic vistas.

“When you live 150-200m from the sand, that’s a health kick in itself because it inspires you to exercise,” Peard Real Estate selling agent Paul Kettle said.

“VetroBlu is right down near the beach and underneath the building is a training studio, while directly across the road is a bikram yoga studio that’s one of the best around, attracting people from near and far.”

Scarborough Beach pool is due to open soon and there’s even a Health Freak Cafe offering sugar-free and gluten-free fare on the beach front.

Just two of VetroBlu’s 60 apartments remain for sale, each featuring a spacious open-plan design, high-quality finishes and private balcony.

The one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment on the fourth floor is priced at $499,000, while a two-bedroom, one-bathroom home on the third floor and facing the ocean is $595,000.

They will especially appeal to a professional couple and, of course, the health-conscious buyer.
