The school was selected to host one of the local rescue helicopters and its crew, who landed on the school oval, as a reward after it successfully completed the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Schools Program.

The program is designed to teach Australian primary school students the importance of not-for-profit emergency services and the work they do in the community.

Bungaree Primary School was selected to host one of the helicopter and its crewmen from more than 100 schools across the nation that took part in the program.
