City refuses boundary change

Laura Tomlinson, Weekend CourierWeekend Kwinana Courier

Despite informal discussions with the City of Cockburn about changes to its northern boundary, the City of Rockingham said it did not support redefinition of those boundaries at this time, despite the fact they may affect road and rail lines.

‘The City acknowledges that there are some small and relatively anomalous changes that might need to be made to our northern, eastern and southern boundaries, and we will attend to this matter after the reform process has been finalised, new entities created and new administrations have ‘settled in’,’ the submission from chief executive Andrew Hammond said.

The City of Kwinana has not filed a submission, defying the October 4 deadline to illustrate councillors and residents’ objections to a forced amalgamation with the City of Cockburn.
