The couple can also now move out of the renovated garage they are living in at their daughter’s house, while their home is being built.

‘On my list was to buy my first home and another was to travel,’ Mrs Bond said. ‘My husband and I have bought and sold homes before but we have never built one with all the personal touches.

‘After my cancer I had a renewed attitude to live life to the fullest so I called Easystart to get the ball rolling on my new home dream.’

The home is in Waikiki.

‘We’re tossing up between Europe, around Australia or even a cruise,’ Mrs Bond said.
