Rescue boat racing excites crowd

‘IRB racing is an exciting adrenaline-packed sport that gives surf lifesavers the chance to put their rescue skills to the test,’ club member Michael Saunders said.

‘In the flat conditions, the spills, crashes and incorrect exiting of the boat were absent but the racing was still exciting as it came down to technique and skill of the crews to win an event.

‘There where plenty of disqualifications on the day but Sorrento still did well making most of the finals, but falling short for podium finishes.’
