Reassurance sought

In an amendment to the report at last month’s council meeting, Mayor Roberts said she was concerned that funding allocated in the Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund would be favoured for regional or country areas.

‘I understand that half of the $20 million allocated in the current round of CSRFR funding is to come from the royalties for regions program,’ she said.

‘I have a very real concern that that only half of the funding pool will be made available to metropolitan councils.’

Wanneroo councillors unanimously supported the amended recommendation to submit a $400,000 funding application to upgrade the Wanneroo Giants baseball and Vikings softball clubrooms.

The money will help fund the $1,470,000 clubroom upgrade.
