A LARGE crane towered over Hamersley Pool this morning as safety work started at the North Beach swimming spot.
The crane lowered an excavator with rock-breaking attachment on to the beach to repair unstable sections of cliffs.
City of Stirling organised the work after a geotechnical investigation found certain sections of the cliffs risked collapse.

Roads were closed on West Coast Drive between Beachton and Saunders streets while the excavator was lowered.
They will close to traffic again at completion of the works, which is expected to be on Friday.
