We must tackle coastal erosion

It has been forced to remove playground equipment, close a car park and deal with a caf� owner voicing concerns about loss of trade as the ocean creeps closer to his business and neighbouring houses.

The City has rightly responded by appointing engineering consultants to advise them on what to do in the short-term. And it has organised a meeting with Department of Transport coastal engineers to discuss the long-term strategy.

While the City was preparing a statement for this paper, Wanneroo councillor Dot Newton told the Times she was about to inspect the |erosion.
