Nalin looks likely

Stuart goes into Mandurah’s biggest race with the advantage, given that he has champion racedog Dyna Nalin in his team.

The Perth Cup-winning chaser is easily the most accomplished racedog in the field and sounded a warning to his rivals with an imposing performance during his heat.

After a typically sluggish start, Dyna Nalin quickly clicked into top gear and surged past his opposition to score comfortably in the fastest qualifying time of 27.34.

Dyna Nalin’s kennelmate, 490m specialist De Wade, was almost as impressive during his heat as he led all the way to stop the clock in 27.39.

The speedy red brindle has now saluted 15 times from 24 attempts over the journey.

Stuart’s third finalist, Flip Bale gained a place in the trophy decider, when he recorded a narrow victory over the Britton-trained Saving Bundles, denying last year’s Cup winner the opportunity to defend her crown.

After entering 19 greyhounds into the series, Britton saw many good dogs knocked out in the heat stage, but she did qualify Zelemar Fever, Te Amo and Oh So Smooth.

Zelemar Fever toughed out a gutsy win against quality opposition in her heat, while Te Amo used her early pace to record a front-running victory and she could be hard to catch in the final.

It is free entry into Greyhounds WA this Friday and there will be free kid’s rides and entertainment plus prize giveaways.
