Development plans see badminton dedicated sports centre proposed for Canning Vale

Gabrielle Becerra MelletPerthNow - Canning

A sports centre dedicated to badminton is tipped for Perth’s south, with documents revealing plans of standalone courts and observation decks fit for players and punters.

Currently lodged with the City of Canning for public consultation, developers have proposed to build a “warehouse-style sports centre” at 39 Magnet Road in Canning Vale.

The 2,265 sqm vacant land was advertised with an asking price of $1,350,000 earlier this year.

Dedicated centres are already operating in Red Cliffe, Dianella, Armadale and one in Canning Vale.

There are at least 60 badminton clubs offering social and competitive games across WA, according to Badminton Western Australia.

The deadline for submissions to the City of Canning is January 23.
