Joondalup Festival: Roaming performers The Tourists entertain crowds as they look for directions to festival

Justin BianchiniPerthNow - Joondalup

A bumbling trio of roaming performers have been spotted looking dazed and confused throughout the northern suburbs.

The loudly dressed posse known as The Tourists, are recent arrivals, travelling from Queensland to experience this year’s Joondalup Festival.

They have been spotted at Mullaloo Beach, Craigie Leisure Centre and even seen haplessly wandering the aisles of Bunnings, sausage sizzle in hand.

The Tourists are on their way to see the giant illuminated creatures of Electric Kingdom, a spectacular free event on every night at Hillarys Boat Harbour until March 22 as part of this year’s festival.

With their bags packed, accommodation booked, but toothbrushes forgotten, the word is they will be wandering through Warwick Grove on Thursday looking for directions to Hillarys and tips on where to eat and visit.

Warwick Grove centre manager Tim Rankin is calling on shoppers to lend a helping hand.

“We’re here to welcome The Tourists so that they can pick up all their essentials — including a replacement toothbrush — as they make their way to Electric Kingdom,” he said.

“If you do see The Tourists out and about looking a bit flustered, be sure to say hello and point them in the right direction.”

No doubt The Tourists will continue to keep popping up in unexpected places throughout the city over the coming days.
