Sensorium Theatre, Australia’s only theatre company which creates live shows for young people with disabilities, was awarded the Active Citizenship Award.

“The Community Citizen of the Year Awards recognise inspiration people and groups who have contributed to our diverse city community,” Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said.

“The winners and all those nominated should be truly proud of their achievements.

“We wouldn’t be where we are without the contributions of passionate citizens such as Jane, Kate and Paul, and the invaluable work of groups such as Sensorium Theatre.”

The awards were presented by Mr Zempilas, WA Governor Chris Dawson and Darrilyn Dawson.

The city also welcomed 50 new Australian citizens from 20 countries at the Australia Day Citizenship and Awards Ceremony.
