Local bakers on show

The wares of WA’s best cake, jam, chutney, pudding and chocolate makers were on show at the Claremont Showground.

Kerry Penno, of High Wycombe, gained the most points in the biscuits, scones and miscellaneous section. Her scones and sweet muffins won first prize, she was second with her savoury muffins, third with her fruit mince pies, second for her cornflour sponge sandwich and highly commended for her afternoon tea slices.

Rosalyn Tay-Brighton, of Hazelmere, topped the shortbread category while Sarah Paul, also of High Wycombe, took first prize with her afternoon tea cup cakes. She also won third in the novelty cake section with her babushka doll cake and third with her classic decorated cup cakes.
