Perth: Operation Intercept nets further drug arrest

AAPEastern Reporter

A 28-year-old man has been charged as part of a police operation targeting drug dealing at licensed venues in Perth’s entertainment district.

The man was charged with five drug offences after a Yokine home and North Perth business were searched on Wednesday.

Operation Inception involved 40 searches in June, with ecstasy, cocaine, methylamphetamine and cannabis worth a total of about $1 million seized, and 61 people charged.

Detective Senior Sergeant Darryl Cox said Operation Inception began at the start of the year and involved dozens of officers.

“We want these venues to be safe for all patrons and we encourage all community members, including those who work in the entertainment sector, to provide us with information about drug dealing,” he said on Thursday.

“We do not want our young adults subject to brazen drug dealing in the entertainment precincts.”
