Perth gets dedicated stand-up comedy venue

Julian WrightEastern Reporter

PERTH’ first purpose-built, $3 million live comedy venue will open its doors on November 23.

Built above an existing Italian restaurant at 410 Murray street, Comedy Lounge will provide a place for local and international comedians to perform and will be open several nights each week all year round.

Director John McAllister said he and his wife Jane wanted to bring live comedy out of bar backrooms and give it its own venue.

Former Kath & Kim star Peter Rowsthorn will be a regular performer in the lead up to Christmas.
