Opinion: Meeting with Imam could break down barriers

Anjum Qaisrani, South LakeFremantle Gazette

I BELIEVE the article “Cockburn Imam committed to breaking down barriers” (Gazette, August 22) will help break down barriers.

As an Ahmadi Muslim, I strongly believe that Islam is religion of love and peace.

The Koran instructs us to be respectful, kind and just towards our fellow Australians, irrespective of their religion.

Loyalty to Australia is part of our faith.

I would urge everyone to meet the Imam and clarify misconceptions about Islam.

Knowledge will repel fear, unless it is politics pretending to be fear.
