The hotel was purchased in October last year by the property syndicator, which immediately took to improving the Fremantle landmark.
Refurbishments include a complete upgrade of the lobby and several public areas and work has begun on re-opening the public bar, which once sat on the corner of Collie Street, due to start operating by the end of the year.
Primewest director David Schwartz said the hotel had provided the opportunity for the group to maintain local ownership of such a unique and significant property.
‘We have been working closely with the Rydges management team to further enhance the long- term appeal and viability of the hotel as well as working with Carlton & United Breweries on the special bar project,’ he said.
‘The Esplanade has been trading very well since we took ownership, but things can always be improved and hospitality is a very competitive game.’
