Young batting star Corey Wasley has followed his Rockingham-Mandurah teammate Teague Wyllie to the WACA Ground.

Wasley had earned his first WACA rookie contract and will be one of four new faces involved in WA’s champion squad for the 2024-2025 summer.

The dynamic 18-year-old, who played two Tests and five ODIs for the Australian Under-19 team, has enjoyed two highly productive seasons with the Mariners’ first grade Premier Cricket side.

He also struck a double century for WA’s second XI last October against South Australia, a feat even more impressive because it came in WA’s second innings. His highest score of the summer included 21 boundaries and 11 sixes.

Wasley also went big at the Under-19 National Championships in December, highlighted by his 164 off 116 deliveries against Tasmania.

Another Premier Cricket mainstay in Midland-Guildford captain Keaton Critchell has also scored his first State deal off the back of outstanding form for WA’s second XI.

The 27-year-old all-rounder struck consecutive centuries against Tasmania’s second XI in February before making his one-day cup debut against the Tigers in Hobart the following week. “Keaton is a great story of persistence after performing well in Premier Cricket for a number of years, while Corey is an exciting young prospect with a bright future,” WA Cricket high performance general manger Kade Harvey said.

Other new faces to the WA squad include former NSW wicketkeeper-batter Baxter Holt, who has effectively swapped places with Blues-bound gloveman Josh Philippe, and Victorian quick Brody Couch.
