SINA Metzger’s dedication and determination have enabled her to make a splash in the WA swimming scene.
The Gosnells resident’s outstanding performances at the WA state championships, where she won gold in the U8-10 4×50 medley relay silver and silver in the 50m and 100m breaststroke, saw her selected to compete at the Pacific School Games in Adelaide in December.
Her father Marc described her as a “tough cookie” and an “inspiration” for her tireless work ethic and love for the sport.

READ NOW“She trains her heart out, with up to six two hour sessions a week, and gets up at 4am twice a week to train at HBF Stadium,” he said.
“After school, she’s straight to HBF Stadium again for afternoon sessions finishing at 7pm.
“She lives for swimming and gets grumpy when she can’t swim.”
Metzger said was his daughter always wanted to be around the pool even when she was not competing.
“Even when chosen as a reserve, she’s on pool deck doing warm-up sessions just to get back on the stands to cheer on the team,” he said.
“If someone has snapped goggles? No problem, Sina will happily share hers.”
His daughter, whose idols are breaststrokers Lilly King and Taylor McKeon, said she was proud of her Pacific School Games selection and had already set some lofty goals.
“I want to get the State Record in Breaststroke, win a medal at the Pacific School Games and to make the Olympics,” she said.
