Man accused of using replica gun in robbery

A MAN who is accused of wielding a replica gun in an attempted robbery at Bentley Plaza is due in court this morning.

Police allege the 26-year-old man entered the outlet on Albany Highway and threatened staff with the replica yesterday afternoon.

He allegedly left the store on foot and unsuccessfully threatened a customer, asking for their car keys, at a nearby petrol station.

Police said the man walked to a liquor outlet and tried to leave without paying for selected items.

When challenged by store security, the man allegedly took out the replica before leaving the store.

Police arrested the man shortly after and he was charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, assault with an intent to prevent arrest of a person and being armed in a way that may cause fear.

He is due to appear at Perth Magistrates Court today.
